Whether you are hiring a caterer for your wedding or any other event in your life, you want the best you can get. This means not only the best in name and legacy, but the best tasting food, best pricing, and best customer service here in Brevard County. The only way to ensure that you can get that is to ask your potential caterers a series of questions. You want to know their business as well as you can. With these questions, you not only show your interest in the company, but in turn you are able to use the answers you receive in order to see how they measure up against other potential hires.  So, what should you look for when you meet with the professionals themselves?

Best Questions for Your Potential Caterer

  1. Are they available?

If you are working with a catering business to help supply your upcoming event and your event’s date is already chosen, be sure to make certain they will for sure be available. Many catering businesses can be booked months or even a year or two in advance, depending on the company. Also, be sure to find out if they will go to the location (if you are hiring a wait-staff or delivery service) if you already have a venue chosen. This is also a good time to ask about any budgetary restrictions or the prices of different options. Also find out if a down-payment is necessary to book the date.  If any of these are non-negotiable negatives, you may want to continue looking.

  1. Are they certified in the State of Florida?

Every state requires their own licenses, so be sure to find out if your caterer has the correct licenses and proper certifications. While you are at it, be sure to find out if they are licensed to serve alcohol. This is often overlooked and if you assume they do, you may be sorely disappointed after it is too late. If alcohol is something you want at your event and your caterer does not offer it, it can save you money to look for one that does rather than trying to mix and match companies.

  1. Do you use fresh ingredients?

When it comes to the food, you only want to serve yourself and your guests the highest quality foods. Make sure that your caterer uses fresh meats and produce. The last thing you want is spoiled food on your big day or night. This is also a good time to ask about particular dietary restrictions that you or some of your guests may face and find out if they can cater to that as well, such as the need of kosher foods or vegetarian options.

  1. What upgrades are available?

Some events require something a little extra. This could include a chocolate fountain or an ice sculpture. If you are interested in having something like that to decorate your table, be sure to find out what they can provide. Also find out if they do themed menus to fit the theme of your event.

Create a checklist of your needs and wants when it comes to the food at your event. It is your big day, after all, so make sure it is exactly as you dreamed it to be.
